Foster-centered Support Programs
Individualized mentoring, resource navigation, and advocacy support to support transition-age Fosters stability
Our Support Programs started in 2021 out of initial visioning from our Education Equity Design group. The Fostering Independence Grants removed a huge barrier for Fosters going to and through college starting fall 2022, and Fosters made clear funding is not the only barrier they face getting to and through college!
Over the past few years, we’ve expanded our Foster-centered mentoring programs across the state, and from a focus on education to encompass other barrier that transition-age Fosters face related to their stability.
We have a range of new resources set to launch in 2025—stay tuned!
In the meantime, if you have questions about our Support Programs, reach out to Donté at donte@fosteradvocates.org
We've been busy spreading the word about the Fostering Independence Grants! Our former Director of Support Programs, Hannah, was featured in an AchieveTwinCities Ed Talk and an interview with the Star Tribune, and Foster leaders Ryn and Edson were on Fox 9 discussing the grants, which you can check out below! Most recently, four Foster leaders were featured in the Imprint and shared their educational journeys—past challenges and the new opportunities that FIG provides!
